Whether you’re planning your engagement photo session or your family photos, there are so many amazing locations throughout Atlanta to capture your family, your love, and your personalities! Over the years, there’s a handful of locations that have become my go-to for portrait photography sessions and I know you’ll love them as much as I do.
A small, intimate location, ideal for engagement photos! Close to midtown, I love shooting engagement sessions here for couples that are looking for a quiet, serene spot with gorgeous spring blooms.
Piedmont Park is one of the first places people often think of for their engagement and family photos, and rightfully so! It’s known for its iconic location but it also has a wide variety of spots that each provide a different vibe, giving you a lot of variety. Since the park is busier, I suggest going at off-peak times and always checking the upcoming calendar to avoid special events or festivals.
I don’t like to pick favorites, but Cator Woolford Gardens is probably one of my favorite locations to shoot engagement sessions in the morning. The light trickles in so beautifully making your couple’s photos look extra magical.
The Downtown Decatur area of Atlanta provides a great mix of color, eccentric walls, and green space, making it the perfect location for your upcoming portrait session if you’re looking for a more urban feel. The historic courthouse staircase is so beautiful and is one of my favorite areas to shoot engagements.
Roswell is filled with beautiful trails, an industrial mill, and the Chattahoochee River, making it the perfect location for adventurous couples and families! Since there are so many scenic areas throughout the park, I always recommend going during off-peak hours so there is less waiting to capture special images.
Arabia Mountain is one of my all-time favorite places to shoot at sunset. The lighting is stunning! I love it so much, I did my own bridal session here when I got married so it will always be a location near and dear to my heart.
This iconic bridge has been in so many movies so it’s naturally a fun place to shoot! I will always recommend this location as a session cap at sunset thanks to the beautiful light it gets. It also has the best view of the skyline and when the sun sets behind it, it’s absolutely magical.
Krog Street Market and Beltine offer a more urban feel since they’re both filled with shops and restaurants. When the weather is nice they can get busy so I always recommend visiting mid-week.
North Georgia has so many amazing wineries that are absolutely beautiful, especially in summer and fall when the vines are blooming! At Chateau Elan, there is such a variation in backdrops, and they even host weddings.
Located in Douglasville, Foxhall Resort has the most stunning greenery and rolling hills perfect for your engagement session. If you’re looking for an area that is a little more country feeling, you won’t be disappointed with this location.
Another beautiful winery for engagement sessions! It has a really authentic feeling to it and it features stunning architecture. Plus, a delicious glass of wine will make your engagement photos a little more fun!
